Stuart Hogg, the former Scotland rugby captain, has admitted to a charge of domestic abuse spanning five years against his former partner.
The case was heard at Selkirk Sheriff Court, where it was revealed that Hogg’s actions left the mother of his children feeling frightened and wishing for the night to end quickly.
The court was informed that after the breakdown of his marriage, Hogg bombarded his ex-partner with around 200 text messages in just a few hours. He also employed phone tracking apps to monitor her whereabouts.
Hogg’s behavior reportedly included frequent nights out with colleagues, followed by abusive outbursts upon returning home. He would shout and swear at his ex-wife, chastising her for choosing to stay upstairs with their children instead of joining him.
The 31-year-old made his Scotland debut in 2012 and has since made 100 appearances for his country, amassing a total of 171 points throughout his international career.
