During a recent appearance on a US talk show, Prince Harry shared his affection for rugby, recalling how he collected autographs from England’s victorious 2003 World Cup squad.
He has always held a particular passion for Rugby, and has worked to improve access to sport for all young people.
The royal answered a series of 15 playful questions during the interview.
Asked if he had ever requested someone’s autograph, he replied: “Yes, the England rugby team in 2003… at the World Cup final after a few drinks wearing an England rugby top.
“I was going, ‘Jonny, Jonny, Mike, Mike, Lawrence come on sign my shirt’.”
“And they’re all there standing naked with their willies hanging out – but I got all 15 signatures and was really happy with that.”
Harry smiled when Colbert quipped, “They signed it with pens, yes?”
PRINCE HARRY’S THREE FAVOURITE RUGBY PLAYERS:
Discussing his some of his standout ruggers from his time watching the sport on a recent Zoom Q&A for the Rugby League, he revealed his three personal favourite union players.
His choices are pretty stellar.
3. Jonah Lomu (New Zealand)
Harry said: “Growing up, Lomu was the player who made me fall in love with rugby. A one of the kind, almost mythical figure who will never be forgotten by anyone involved in the sport. The winger was an absolute legend and is sorely missed.”
