“He’s got that X factor” Scarlets head coach hails praise to Macs Page just days after Welsh squad omission

Scarlets head coach Dwayne Peel was full of praise for Welsh youngster Macs Page after the Welsh youngster’s stunning performance in his side 30-8 win against Zebre Parma.  The Scarlets overcame a tough first half to move clear of their Italian opponents after the break.

Tries from Tom Rogers , Macs Page, Blaire Murray and captain Josh Macleod earned their side a third win on the bounce. Peel was quick to praise try scorer Page and his performance at the Parc Y Scarlets.

He said “It was good for Max to have this game and you know, we see that try at the end. That’s what he’s got. He’s got that X factor and that speed.”

Peel also highlighted the joy he’s having with his depth in his centre partnerships “Joe Roberts isn’t too far away as well, so that’s another headache to have.

But it’s always good to have that competition, they drive [the] standards of each other really.” He said.

Peel was clearly a happy man after his side secured the victory at home but was adamant his side was far from perfect.

“Obviously delighted with, with the result. I felt last week was a big game, a heavy game for us and we started the week, we had tired bodies.

I just thought fair play to Zebre in that first half. They really made things difficult. But I also felt that we were probably guilty of a lot of our own errors as well.” Said Peel.

Peel also placed a spotlight on his squads’ plans during their break for the Autumn internationals.

“I just think we were inaccurate. We were a bit slow sometimes to get to breakdown and you know we dropped too many balls on forced areas as well.

So look, we’ll revisit that. We’ve got a couple of weeks now. [The] boys have a bit of a break next week, a couple of weeks and get back into it.” Peel said.
