Defence coach Kevin Sinfield delivered a positive injury update for England ahead of their clash with Japan on Sunday.

On any injury updates from England’s game against Argentina on Saturday, Sinfield said: “We’ve come through really well … so far so good.”
On the performance of George Ford, who scored all of his side’s 27 points in Marseille:
Sinfield said: “It was a masterclass. He really grabbed hold of the game for us (and) managed it really well.
“He was faultless with the boot. He brings a calmness to us. You want your leaders to step up in a variety of different ways in big games and George certainly did that.
“His relationship and partnership with Freddie (Steward) at the back was special as well in a different way. The pair of them were outstanding and did a really good job.”
On how he assessed England’s performance he added: “We showed a bit of what we’re about. I still feel there’s lots of improvement in us and I was disappointed to concede at the end, but I thought we did a really professional job.
“We knew that performance was coming and to have to do the vast majority of it with 14 men shows the fight and the spirit that we have spoken about for some time now – however, it hasn’t transferred onto the field for us.
“We knew it was going to be a challenging game for us. We also knew that Argentina are a fantastic team and they’re going to cause some teams some real issues this World Cup but we got through and we took a step forward yesterday.”
