Leicester Tigers fans have reason to celebrate as England international Ollie Chessum commits his future to the club, signing a new contract with the Premiership giants.
The 24-year-old lock, who’s already racked up 60 appearances in Tigers colours, played a starring role in Leicester’s unforgettable 2022 Premiership-winning final.

Born to roar
A lifelong Tigers supporter, Chessum came through the club’s academy system before a brief stint with Nottingham in the Championship. He returned in 2020, making his senior debut against Gloucester that August and never looking back.
Chessum made his mark on the international stage in 2022, earning his first England cap against Italy. Despite a serious injury earlier this year, he bounced back in time to feature prominently during England’s Rugby World Cup campaign.
Leicester through and through
The versatile forward even captained Tigers for the first time this season, leading the team against Exeter in the opener. While he’s currently sidelined with another injury picked up in England camp, Chessum is laser-focused on helping the club regain its winning edge.
Speaking about the deal, Chessum said:
“I’m very pleased to know my future is here at Leicester Tigers. This is my home. I’ve loved the club my whole life. I’m surrounded by good mates and come to work in an environment that demands high standards and work ethic every day. That’s perfect for me at this stage of my career.
“I’ve tasted what success feels like at Leicester and I’ll give everything I have to the team to make sure we get back there again.”
Cheika’s seal of approval
Tigers’ head coach Michael Cheika hailed Chessum’s importance to the club, stating:
“It’s really important for the club to have Ollie signed on for the future.
“Ollie is 24, homegrown, has Leicester Tigers in his blood, and is a high-quality player.
“He’s been introduced to a leadership role this season and showed good skills given the opportunity. I’m very happy he will be part of the club in the coming seasons.”
