England boss Steve Borthwick has been left frustrated as four of his squad picks fo the 2023 Six Nations are now serious doubts for the tournaments kick-off.
#1.Jamie George (Concussion)
The experienced forward went too high on impressive Edinburgh flanker Luke Crosbie in the first half and was flattened.
George was simultaneously shown a yellow card and sent for a head injury assessment before somewhat surprisingly returning to the field once he had served 10 minutes in the sin bin.
George played out the rest of the opening 40 minutes before the games indented doctor stepped and requested his removal.
Fans and pundits alike were baffled when Saracens hooker Jamie George returned to the field against Edinburgh despite clearly being concussed.
Andy Goode wrote: “Whoever cleared Jamie George to go back on the pitch after that head knock and whiplash needs to give their own head a wobble”
Progressive Rugby added: “In our view England hooker Jamie George demonstrated clear category 1 symptoms and has wrongly undergone a HIA instead of being permanently removed. We say this error has again seen a player returned to the field at risk. We ask that @epcrugby investigate as a matter of urgency.”
